Tag editing: genre overrides album, can't fix within VLC

When I open a file (at least OPUS or MP3) and use the VLC tag editor (Cmd+I), as long as the "Genre" is set it overrides the "Album", as seen in the Album column in the VLC playlist as well as in external software (pytaglib, Kid3). In the VLC tag editor, the "Album" edits are "saved" until restart, after it the field becomes empty.
