vlc not playing youtube videos and i keep on getting http 403 errors

Lately, whenever I try to play YouTube videos on VLC on my Mac, I get an error message that says, "Unable to open MRL." When I checked the log, I found an HTTP 403 error. Can anyone provide suggestions on how to fix this problem?
