VLC changing last modified time stamp of file being played

Hey folks,

I updated my VLC for macOS-arm64 from 3.0.18 to the latest, 3.0.20 and I noticed that when it plays video files, it's also modifying the "last modified" time stamp of the file being played.

This does not happen with 3.0.18, as I went back to that version to check.

It this a bug or is there some advanced option that I can turn off so it does not do this?
