BUG that happens with VLC on all versions of macos 14 (sonoma)

so theres been this bug ive noticed ever since upgrading to macos 14 (sonoma) from macos 13 (ventura) where the menu bar title glitches from VLC -> VLC Media Player upon quitting and relaunching the app. AFAIK its supposed to always stay at VLC. At least thats what it did for me on macos 13. Here's a video of the issue happening:

Update- this was sort of fixed with macos 14.2 beta 3 (i was on 14.1.1 prior to upgrading), but now it remains as "VLC Media Player" at all times, when it used to display as just VLC at all times on macos 13 (ventura)

Yeah I think this is some interaction with the translations, however why it would be changing before I have no clue, that sounds like some macOS issue…

But it definitely should be just "VLC" again, as "VLC media player" wastes a lot of space for no benefit… I will look into it.

do you have any estimates on when this fix will be available on the stable version of vlc for macOS? I'm currently on Version 3.0.20 Vetinari (Apple Silicon)

to be more specific the fix im describing is changing the menu bar to display just "vlc" instead of "vlc media player". @ePirat
