Severe stuttering on Ventura 13.2.1

Hello all,
I am experiencing severe video playback stutter - freezing and jumping several seconds at a time. This occurs with every mp4 and mov file I have tried. The same files play back perfectly in other players.
Mac Mini M2 Pro w/32 gb ram
Ventura 13.2.1
VLC 3.0.18

I have tried various settings in the input/codec tab but no luck so far...any suggestions?

Bump...still can't get VLC to work on this computer. Anyone?

Hi, have you tried resetting the preferences already, just to make sure you do not have any accidentally wrong setting messing up things?

If the issue occurs with clean preferences, please open the Messages window (Shift + CMD + M), reproduce the issue and provide the log.
