How to open a video steam from a tuner on a local network?

Hello,

I have a Silicondust HDHomeRun dual DVB-T tuner hooked up on my local network. I can watch TV using Silicondust's own HDHomeRun video player. However, in order to record TV programs, I'd like to access the tuner using VLC, but I don't know how to do. When I launch VLC, should I open a video capture or a network stream? When selecting "Network stream", VLC asks for an IP address (I can look it up if that's the way to go), and if instead, we should open a video capture, the drop-down menu that lists input devices is empty. Any idea?

Thank you.

With my device, HDHomerun FLEX 4K, to watch channel 38.2 via VLC, I select "Media", "Open Network Stream" and then enter the URL "http://hdhomerun.local:5004/auto/v38.2". Note that the channel is is the last part of the URL. I can access my device via http://hdhomerun.local/. I can also access the stream using the local ip address in place of hdhomerun.local in the URL. I can determine the channel streal URL by going to the device via http://hdhomerun.local or its IP address, selecting "Channel Lineup" and then finding the channel I want, right click on the channel and "copy link".
