Playlist Sort Always Defaults to Alphabetical

My apologies if this problem has been raised before but I would very much appreciate some assistance on a problem I've experienced with the Mac version of VLC. It pertains to a difference in how playlists are sorted between the Mac and PC versions of VLC:

--With the Windows version of VLC, playlists respect the sorting of items that are dragged into a playlist from the Windows File Explorer. This is a great way to compensate for the small number of sortable metadata fields in VLC playlists.
--With the Mac version, regardless of how I have my files sorted in the Mac Finder, VLC playlists are always sorted alphabetically. This makes file management very difficult.

Is there some way to have the Mac version of VLC respect the Finder sort order when files are dragged into VLC?

I am also really frustrated by the auto sorting on files dropped to the playlist. That doesn't make any sense.

If I drop several files on to the playlist together that are already in the correct order, they are re sorted alphabetically.

But, if I drop one file at a time it does not auto sort. Obviously this is not desired always. Can we get an option to disable that please.
