Unable to play videos

Hi all,

I'm running a mac studio with an Apple M1 Max Chip, 32GB RAM. OS is Ventura 13.2.1. VLC is version 3.0.18 (apple silicon). When I try to play any mp4 files from VLC the video just flickers between black and the playlist screen. I have uninstalled/reinstalled it. The files play in quicktime just fine. Any suggestions?
