10 bit colour problem, purple-green - fixable?

I have a 2160p 10 bit video and have an issue with colours being purple-green and also gamma / contrast fluctuating (HDR?) on a normal monitor / TV / Video Projector. Is there a way to watch video like this, fix this issue somehow? I'm able to manually "correct" the colours but that does not give me a very good result so I'm looking for an alternative solution.

I have VLC 3.0.18 installed on macOS Big Sur. Although the same issues occurs also in older macOS builds, Mavericks and Mojave.
