Hiding the video progress bar (see screenshot)

Hey guys,

I recently moved over from Windows and I'm having some trouble with the Mac version of VLC. I sometimes download sporting events from my on demand subscription for travels and i don't wanna be spoiled by the progress bar in the player UI (see screenshot). I was able to easily disable the parts of the UI i did not want to have on windows but somehow there is little to no documentation regarding this on MacOS.

Can anybody help me out?
