Hello.
I wouldn’t exactly say I’m a new user as I did try using VLC on my PC back in the day but I was never really successful with it. Now I’m using a Mac I’ve found it much more accommodating.
I can rip DVDs without issue but I have one problem at the moment. I’m aware of the issue that VLC can have with DVDs that contain menus and, unfortunately, one DVD I have is actually menu driven. If I allow it to run with menus it rips the first segment, which I presume is the opening portion of the menu, then it carries on ripping the same thing over and over ad infinitum. If I select ‘Disable DVD menus’ it appears to copy each part, each one is different in length so it’s not like it’s got itself in to a loop and the process terminates as I’d expect. But, only the first part of the menu is playable and the total file size of the generated mp4 is only 66.8mb.
It may be a setting thing but if there’s anyone can shed any light I would appreciate it.
