Can VLC access a USB 3.0 External SSD on my Mac?

Postby Mike-Mass » 06 Dec 2022 17:33

I've been a VLC user for quite some time, use it on my Nvidea Shield to access my WD MyCloud network drive. WD is no longer supporting these drives and I've been thinking about alternatives... was wondering about moving the data from the network drive to a SSD drive that would be a USB or Thunderbolt type connection. So the question is whether I can remotely stream from the SSD drive through the USB or Thunderbolt connection to my Nvidea Shield? TIA for any/all advice... I'm a retired senior and while not very technically inclined I follow orders fairly well LOL.-Mike

Hi,
Nvidia Shield has 2 USB 3.0 ports. On their website they recommend USB 3.0 flash drives for best performance and compatibility.
If you want external SSD for it I think any search engine can help you find what you need, just search for "nvidia shield external ssd".
Moreover Nvidia Shield is an Android device so if you have any compatibility issues I think you should ask in the appropriate sub forum.
