Is VLC is no longer playing Youtube links?

My VLC is updated to 3.0.16, but every time I try to play a youtube video, I receive "Your input can't be opened
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'https://rr4---sn-q4flrnsk.googlevideo.c ... gRw8JQ0qOA'. Check the log for details." I have used VLC in the past, but even the other links I used are not opening. I searched the forums and found this link for Windows: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 67#p507838", but the instruction seem different for mac. Is it a bug? It has worked before.

Download VLC 3.0.17 from our website manually or wait until tomorrow to have the update automatically :)

here is an example why YT links dont parse properly.
its a link to another link, to another link until it finally resolves to the actual link hosting the media content.
to add to this issue, there are separate video and audio streams, VP9 (VP90) for video and OPUS for audio, respectively.
the example below is opening the OPUS audio stream from a YT music video (VP9 & OPUS).
