VLC won't play video from a particular UPNP media server

Postby williambsmithjr » 19 Jan 2022 04:25

I have VLC running on a 2016 MacBook Pro i7 (OS X Mojave). The app correctly recognizes the three UPNP media servers in my house: 1) Sonos, 2) Plex, 3) A Buffalo Terastation running DLNA server software. When I attempt to play content from the Buffalo, VLC automagically switches to the Plex server and the requested video from the Buffalo does not play (the app simply plays the first alphabetic title in the Plex listing. I have not seen this behavior before in VLC. The app works fine on other macs and iOS devices... just problematic on this one Mac. I have trashed VLC's preferences and reinstalled the app to no avail. What else can I do to correct the problem?

Could it be a conflict between Plex and the Buffalo? Please help. Thanks. --Bill
