Cannot browse DLNA server, only play

I'm trying to use VLC to play back content from my Serviio DLNA server on my Macs.
However, VLC is presenting the server without the posibility to browse it, like this:
Hmmm... Apparently I can't paste an image, and there's not upload button that I can see, just the "Img" button that injects empty "img" tags. So, I'll explain instead.
In the browser, I see the name of my server, "Serviio (titanic.local)". It does not have an arrow to the left of it, though, that I can expand it with, and right-clicking and selecting "Expand all" does nothing. The only way to get it to retrieve any kind of content listings is to double-click it, which is the "play" action, and it starts attempting to play everything it finds on the server — generating an error log instantly that's difficult to deal with in its own right. Only when it successfully gets to somewhere with a video it can play, does it actually start playing something and I can click the stop button to stop the madness.
At that point, the browser will have expanded and list the topmost folders in Serviio, but it will only allow me to expand or collapse branches as far as it made it in its attempt to play back everything. It has made it into the "Titles" folder, which is the first one listed by Serviio, but the one I use, "Folders," is not expandable. Also, even if it were, this wouldn't exactly be an ideal way to get to be able to browse that folder in the first place
I searched around, and it doesn't seem like many people experience this? There's this post, where I think he's experiencing the same thing, but I can't be positive: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... na#p509625
Any ideas?
Thanks
Oh, this is VLC 3.0.16 for Mac.
