After MacOS upgrades a folder "Relocated Items" is left on my desktop with a PDF explaining and a file named "group.system_default" the file has something to do with the Open Directory.
Does VLC use OpenDirectory? And if so, how do I deal with this issue on my Mac?

Hello,
VLC does not use OpenDirectory and you can safely ignore this very confusing and misleading error from Apple on macOS updates. In fact, you can safely delete that folder (which is in no way associated with VLC).
