Hi

Where is the record button on VLC player (Mac)?

There is no such button. However, you can find an entry doing the same in the Playback menu.

why is it missing in mac version but not in windows version > advance controls?

Because we never added that button to the macOS interface in favor of the menu item. A design choice.

You should make it more consistent so people know where it is regardless of the OS
Also it is much more easier to press the button to start or stop a recording..

This is also a bad design choice then since there is no OSD indicator that a recording is occurring..
We could have forgotten or not know that a recording was still occurring for hours..

Can you implement OSD display that a recording is occurring like how the video camcorders or phones shows
the REC OSD + timer of duration of the recording?


This would be helpful for us to know that a recording is occurring and how long it has been recording..
Currently there is no way to know this info.

Can you also implement the recording button so that it is consistent across different OS version of VLC ?


That way we know where the recording function is regardless of the OS..
And it is also to start and stop a recording with a REC button
