I've read from several sources that ratings column on playlist should be available, however when I right click on a random field I can't see it on available columns.

Is is a operating system or generalized issue?

According to this add-on seems Rating column should be available instead.

Also, is it possible to add custom columns on playlist using lua extension?

I've taken a look at this source, however I cannot see any that could fit my need.

This is an interesting request! In fact, I was unaware of this extension and on macOS, there is no way to add a rating column to the playlist. I'll investigate this further.
