Mac app vs iOS app

Is there a difference between the two applications' capabilities? I ask because I have VLC 3.0.12 64-bit Intel installed. I'm offered an update to 3.0.12.1. This is the iOS version of the application set to run on an M1 Mac.
Thanks very much for any clarification.

If you run on an M1 mac, then you should upgrade to 3.0.12.1, yes. This version is functionally the same as 3.0.12, but runs as native arm code and is therefore much faster on your mac.

@dfuhrmann where can I download SOURCE for 3.0.12.1? Am verifying code against a linux build that is currently at 3.0.12 -- we want to stay there until we can verify across platforms. Realize that current source tree is at 3.0.14 but could use a *source* download of 3.0.12.1 right now. Thanks for pointing me to archive source -- we do not want a .dmg. Thanks
Also - should note that yes, am running on M1 mac.

The source code for 3.0.12 and 3.0.12.1 is exactly the same. The version is different only to convince the updater to install the M1 binary on capable Macs because we didn't include the necessary fixes to the update in 3.0.11.

For the exact source of 3.0.12.1, you can check out the git tag:
