VLC + extended Desktop + Full screen + (crop/wall/something else)?

Postby ignorica » 20 Feb 2021 19:08

Hi everyone,

I have a headache issue and I think I am not proficient enough in figuring out the solution for it.
I have a PBP setup (do not ask why..DP limitations) where my 1 x 49" monitor is seen as 2 x monitors 2560x1440.
I am trying to see if there is any way to get VLC in this extended desktop Mac OSX setup to play in full screen.
Currently when I double click the window, then one "virtual monitor" is black, the other one is full screen with my movie.
If I remove the "black screens in Full Screen mode" option, then Full Screen is just on one device.
If I stretch the VLC window (remove the Aspect Ratio constraint) then I get some result but the video is just playing somewhere in the middle and not always scaled correctly.

I assume I need to play with Aspect and Crop Ratios but I have no clue how to calculate these.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction or if there's another solution to this, then what/where I can apply it from?

P.S. I also tried Video Effects -> Wall -> 1 row / 2 columns. This produced 2 x VLC windows and none would go Full Screen on one of the "virtual screens" upon double clicking. Maybe I needed to do something else here.

Thank you!

I did not a crop factor 32:9 and it seems to be ok + if I then stretch the VLC window to the maximum but it's still not full screen as the dock bar and some pieces on the right/left are visible and not suitable for movie watching.
I'm wondering if there's any way to tell VLC to do Full Screen on "both" 2 x 2560x1440 screens.
