Dears, I searched with no success. I have a horrible audio distortion when listening music (or watching movies) via VLC with my BOSE Soundlink MINI II. With iTunes it works fine and it worked fine with VLC until a few weeks ago. I have Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6, MacBook Pro, VLC Version 3.0.11.1 Vetinari (Intel 64bit). I did all my best and I'm getting crazy. Thanks for you help!

What volume is VLC''s internal volume set at? 100% or higher?
Command and arrow up/down while a movie is playing will confirm.

I have a similar issue but this is using my DAC/Amp. I've yet to check if it happens through my Mac speakers. Like you it doesn't happen on every CD. I used two other media players with no issues. My music is coming from an external HDD and is Flac Level 5.
Based on Nooksters reply, should I turn down the volume level on VLC player? Every other player etc that I've used I've always set the volume to 100% and controlled sound with my headphone amp.
EDIT:
Problem solved. In the little volume control on the pop up window there is a vertical line before the end of the sliding scale. I assumed that this is the line that marks the 100% level and after placing my cursor on the I got a % reading - 125%. Somehow I must have set this to full a few weeks ago, hence the distortion issue. I've dialed it back to about 110% and don't seem to be having any issues. I'll tweak it back further if anything happens.
