VLC sometimes gets stuck at random playback and can't be corrected

Hello. I'm on a Mojave 10.14.3 and using VLC 3.0.11 and I've been having this issue for a couple of updates now (so a couple of years).

Every once in a while, randomly, VLC decides to get stuck at "Playback -> Random". Meaning, no matter what I do, it doesn't skip to the next file on a list; but goes to another file randomly. Picking to play the "Next" file from settings does nothing, the only thing that works when this happens is selecting "Reset All" from Preferences. I really don't like doing that because this means from the many interface settings, to the subtitle settings, etc - everything I adjusted to the way I liked and had been using for months, gets erased as well. This "random playback" getting stuck seems to happen very randomly as well, I couldn't figure out if it happens after I do something or play a certain type of file. It just gets stuck and there is no way to get rid of it except doing a "reset all".

I've seen this issue getting mentioned every now and then at different places and been hoping it would be solved with an update at some point, but it never got better and every update seems to be the same.

Hi, sorry for the bump but this just keeps happening once every couple of months and I hate that all of my settings are getting reset because of it. With every update, I'm hoping that this gets corrected, but it's been years now and nothing is changing.
