VLC not working after Catalina upgrade

I just upgraded to Catalina, gave VLC full disk access, but when I drop the media into the VLC window it shows a duration of 00:00 and will not play.

You should give more information, and most importantly a VLC log file, to further analyse your problem.

In general, VLC works fine on macOS Catalina.

Thanks for the response.

There is no error message - the media appears in the VLC playlist window as usual when I drag it over, but does not play and duration is listed as 00:00. Before it would automatically start with no issue.

What other information can I provide? I have upgraded to VLC 3.0.10 and granted VLC full disk access in my security and privacy settings.

You should give full logs. First open the log window, then start playing back the problematic file.
