Album Art is violating my security!

So you know when you show Media info, and when no track is playing there is the VLC cone? I can download an MP3 and play it and it'll pick a local picture that I had on my desktop (in this case, a copy of a check with my name and address!). In the past, it's picked other pictures, but this time, it's REALLY a problem.
I know it's VLC doing it because right after downloading, if I play it in iTunes or Quicktime, no album artwork is there. But if I play it in VLC, it's there...and STAYS there. If I subsequently play the track in iTunes, I see the picture of the check.
I uninstalled and reinstalled VLC, and said no to downloading album artwork. The problem remains.
How do I fix this?

That's what a cache is for.
Find your vlc user dir and delete cached content;

I searched my MacOS Library folders and made sure there was nothing. If I missed an obvious location, please be so kind as to point where it's at. I'll delete and test immediately.

Thank you... but this did not resolve the problem.

Try to delete the cache, which you can find at the following folder path:
~/Library/Caches/org.videolan.vlc/
In Finder you need to use the "go to" --> "go to folder" menu item and then type or copy/paste the above path manually.

I have "AppCleaner" on my Mac, so when I delete a program (which I have deleted VLC a few times), all related folders and cache generally get delete as well.
That folder you indicated is empty. However, I deleted it anyway, restarted VLC, and downloaded a fresh MP3.
I played the MP# on VLC, and looked at media information. That same picture of a check is the album art.
Do you have any other suggestions?

No idea then, I never heard about a similar problem before. Please use your normal Finder / File utilities to search for the picture you see on our system.
You can try opening the VLC log file to check out which file names VLC tries to display.

VLC tries to find album art in the same folder as the music files, so if you have the file in question in the same folder as the MP3, chances are VLC will pick it up.

So I thought I had deleted the picture in question but... apparently not. I searched and found it on my desktop. I'm not sure why it thought it was album art: The file was called "front.jpg". That's all.
Any way I can prevent it looking for ANY album art?

front is a common name for the coverart file and is what VLC has in its list, among other ones:
"Folder.jpg",
"Folder.png",
"AlbumArtSmall.jpg",
"AlbumArt.jpg",
"Album.jpg",
".folder.png",
"cover.jpg",
"cover.png",
"cover.gif",
"front.jpg",
"front.png",
"front.gif",
"front.bmp",
"thumb.jpg"
It seems there is currently no easy way to disable that other than removing the libfolder_plugin completely.

Thanks. That’s very helpful.
