I just updated to the latest version VLC 3.0.10 and I no longer have audio on any of my .mkv or .mp4’s Even ones that I had previously played with audio.

I have a MAC, OS X El Capital Version 10.11.6

Ive try deleting and redownloading with the same issue. How can I go back to the previous version of VLC or if this is a problem with all MACs upgrade do you have another version that will be released that will fix this bug?

I have a similar problem.
The latest version of VLC freezes while listening to audio and I have to make a forced exit to resume listening, but after a few minutes it freezes again.
I have Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Sounds like the same issue others are experiencing currently: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=153358

I downloaded and installed the zip file at that link to see if it solved the problem here, and found that it doesn't.

I am looking to convert a .mov file to a .m4v file, and no matter what I do, the audio in the resultant file is gone.

I am using OSX Catalina 10.15.4.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Sounds like you have a completely different and unrelated issue.

Hi, this is not the issue that this build tried to solve, so it's not surprising it does not solve it. This one is for the issue where on playback especially after pausing you suddenly have no audio anymore and trying to stop then would cause VLC to freeze.

Regarding the issue you mentioned about converting causing lack of audio in the resulting file, I am not aware of a regression there. Does this work fine in 3.0.8? Please provide some more details about how exactly you do it so we can reproduce the issue.

I'll create a new post in a separate string. Sorry; apparently I misunderstood the nature of this string.

I updated my VLC yesterday and can confirm that after update 3.0.10 my MKV files have no audio. I went back to 3.0.8 and works just fine. I'm quite surprised, because I'm using VLC for years and this is first time a bug like this occurs to me. O_o .

ps: I tried the 3.0.9.2 and it has the same audio problem, which means the bug started on that version.
