Display not sleeping when VLC paused?

Postby mr cone » 26 Dec 2005 00:22

Hi All...Happy holidays!

Using VLC/OSX 10.4.3/Powerbook

When I pause a movie with VLC (and either leave it on screen or minimize it to the dock), if I go away for a while and come back, my screen has not dimmed or shut off. I have confirmed that this only happens with VLC having a movie paused. If VLC is not running, the screen sleeps in it's normal 5~6 minutes. Any ideas?

It doesn't happen just happen when the movie is paused. It also happens when the movie is playing. This is, of course, intentional.

I guess VLC should stop resetting the timer when the movie is paused tho.

Ah yes, of course, that makes sense.
If it's paused though, it should let control of the screen up...

Hello guys,
I've just created a ticket concerning this issue, so your notes aren't lost and might be fixed in the next release. Thanks for your feedback.

The ticket says this is fixed, but I have the same issue currently in windows 7 sp1 VLC version 2.1.3 --- seems simple enough, if the video is paused, VLC should release the disable hold on the idle timer/ (powercfg -requests)

I assume you say I'm hijacking because I mention the wrong platform. Sorry, my message should have read:

The ticket says this is fixed, but I have the same issue currently in Mac OSX 10.9.2 VLC Version 2.1.4 Rincewind (Intel 64bit) --- seems simple enough, if the video is paused, VLC should release the PreventUserIdleSystemSleep assertions (pmset -g assertions)
