192kHz FLAC plays back at 44.1kHz

Hey guys,
When I play back FLAC files with high sample rates, VLC plays back at 44.1kHz. I've tested this by playing back the same files using fre:ac https://www.freac.org/, which plays them back at the full sample rate. I can test for the sample rate because it digitally changes the clock on my interface. As for the bit depth, I'm not sure if VLC is playing back the full bit depth, but to my ears, the tracks sound MUCH more dynamic when playing back through fre:ac. Any idea what's going on here? Thanks!
