I can replicate this with any .mkv .mp4 .avi file
I have to force quit, happens with v3.0.7 also
Trashing the pref files didn't help
Never had any trouble before MacOS 10.14.5 (haven't yet updated to v10.14.6)

Out of curiosity and just in case other people have similar issues, can you share what the solution was or what was causing the problem?

I use a hackintosh, the issue was hardware related and I don’t think too many people should expect to face the same kind of problem
