Uninstall VLC 2.2.8

Not sure how but I've ended up with two versions of VLC installed on my Mac, or at least my Mac thinks there are two versions. When I click on a mp3 file and submenu of "Open With" shows two options: "VLC(3.0.7.1)" and "VLC( 2.2.8 ) "
I have tried to open mp3 file with 2.2.8 and VLC just crushes, only newer version works fine. Does anyone knows how to remove the old version from the "Open With" menu?

Try to search for VLC.app in Finder, and drop the older version to the Trash.

If there is only one VLC.app, why it shows two options? I open the older one and in the information about the player it says, that is in fact the older one. The icons for the 2 versions are different.

If it shows two entries in the list that both open different versions of the app it means you have two versions of VLC somewhere on your system.

How could I find where is the old version located?

Searching with Spotlight for VLC for example and then pressing CMD + enter with the entry selected opens the location.
