questions re "continue playback" feature

the threshold for remembering appears to be between 5% and 95% of the duration. so for a 60 minute video, if i stop playback before the 3 minute mark or after the 57 minute mark, it forgets the position. is there any way for the user to customize this setting? (i'd prefer a lower threshold like 1% or a fixed amount like 20 seconds.)

also if i quit vlc and re-open it the next day, when i continue watching a video that i stopped in the middle of, sometimes it remembers the position and sometimes it doesn't. is there a time limit or some other limit that is causing this?

There does not seem to be any advanced setting in Preferences to customize this feature. Interface->Main Interface->macos->Continue playback where you left off->Ask/Always/Never. Those are the only user options. Anything more and you would have to code it yourself or request it as a feature for a future build.

No, this is unfortunatly not configurabe right know, and it is not planned to do so. VLC already has far too many settings...

@dfuhrmann, ok i accept that we don't need this to be a configurable option. but is there is a reason why the threshold has to be so high? instead of 5%, could it be more like 1%, or a fixed value like 30 seconds after the beginning or before the of the total runtime? :?
