Transcoding and saving a livestream to file: Please bring back the wizard!

Last night I tried out new VLC 3.0.0 on El Capitan, but I realised that I had to downgrade to 2.2.8 because I rely on the wizard for transcoding radio livestreams to mp3 and saving to a file. The wizard that was always there as long as I've been using VLC media player had gone. Only the streaming wizard was still there, but I do not need that one. Hm.

Has the wizard been done away with forever? If so, is there a reason for that? Or is there a chance to bring it back to VLC?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but no, the old wizard will not be brought back.
Please check out and use the new convert and save panel. If some use case is not supported yet, we might add it there, if you describe what is not working.

In your case, you can try drag & drop of the radio station, from playlist into the source section of the new panel.

Very sorry indeed to hear that!

Thanks for the hint with drag & drop from the playlist to the convert and save panel. It works in the sense that it actually produces a file on my local machine. But I cannot listen to the stream while the recording is done, so neither do I know when to stop it near the end of a programme.

Could you please implement a "monitor" functionality for that? Or is there already a switch somewhere that I have missed?

Again, thanks in advance!

Currently there is no possibility to batch convert files on Mac OS... It was very usefull.
