VLC does not play E-AC-3 track (Dolby Digital Plus)

Hi there all, I am a newbe and have a question about VLC on Mac.

In VLC Version 2.2.4 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit) the voice track (voices/speaking) is not playable with MKV files.
I already noticed on the internet by searching that the problem is within the Codec E-AC-3 which I understand should stand for Dolby Digital Plus.
On Windows it works perfectly but not on OS X.
I am using OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6
So I think there is an issue inside my Mac or I need to download the Codec E-AC3?
Someone on another board informed me that there was a difference inside these 2 mentioned files below. Episode 4 uses the AC-3 and Episode 5 the E-AC-3 Codec.
I checked this with other files and this difference in Codec is probably why I cannot play the voice track of the file.

Episode 4
Audio
ID: 2
Formaat: AC-3
Formaat/Info: Audio Coding 3
Format_Settings_ModeExtension: CM (complete main)
Formaatinstellingen, Endianness: Big
Codec-ID: A_AC3

Episode 5
Audio
ID: 2
Formaat: E-AC-3
Formaat/Info: Audio Coding 3
Formaatinstellingen, Endianness: Big
Codec-ID: A_EAC3

Hope someone has the answer to this problem. Thank you in advance!

You need to use VLC 3.0 for this! Try a nightly build.

I tried the 3.0 but the problem remains, it only outputs stereo. :(

Sorry, I just see it is for MacOS, my problem is with the windows version, but the problem is the same so I guess it is not related to any OS.
