Audio drop outs

There are several threads about audio problems - it appears they were never solved. Specifically, "VLC 2.1.2 sporadic 1-2 sec audio drop out".
I am on 2.2.4 and still have the same problem (Very nice when you are listening to a nice concert).

Has anybody heard about a solution to this?

Doesn't anybody have an idea about these audio drop-outs? We like to listen to classical music and these drop-outs are really bad.
