VLC 2.2.1 and El Capitan playback window issues

I am noticing the following issues in VLC Player 2.2.1 and El Capitan 10.11.1:

1. When I double click on a playlist (I have set .m3u files to open in VLC), VLC player launches and it starts playing the first video immediately. How do I make it *not* start playing automatically when I double click on a playlist file?

2. If VLC is currently not running, and I double click on a file which I have associated with VLC (.avi for example), the video opens and starts playing underneath the playlist window. I think this is a bug. However, I don't want to use the floating video window option. I would rather have this fixed so the video is the topmost window.

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback!

1) yes, we have a well hidden option for that. However, it will prevent all your media from playing instantly, not just playlists. You can find it in VLC -> Preferences -> Show All -> Playlist. Uncheck "Autostart" and restart VLC.

2) We believe that we fixed that for VLC 2.2.2, which will be out in a few days. You can find a prerelease version here: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... l/?C=M;O=D - just download the latest 2.2 snapshot. To launch the app, open it with the right-click menu after unzipping to work-around GateKeeper, as nightly builds are not signed by us. Feedback would be great!
