have to install every time i restart mac

Hi everyone
I have this problem with vlc. whenever i restart my macbook air, i have to re-install vlc player. please help
I am running mavericks OS X 10.9.5. and vlc Version 2.2.1 Terry Pratchett (Weatherwax) (Intel 64bit)

Generally, reinstallation is not necessary at all.

Please describe your problem in more detail: Why do you think reinstallation is necessary? What is your actual problem? Which steps did you perform with VLC before you restarted your Mac?

Make sure that you're not running VLC off the mounted disk image (.dmg) and you have dragged the VLC icon from there to your Applications folder and then run from there and/or drag the Application icon from there to your Dock.
