Moving VLC between Spaces

On previous versions of VLC, in order to move it from one Space to another, I'd minimize it, switch to the new Space, then restore it. However on the current version (2.2.1) this doesn't work. It always restores to the original space, and shifts me back to that Space. Is there any way to revert to the old behaviour? The only way I know to move between Spaces now is to quit VLC and launch it again in the new Space.

As an aside, what I'd really like is for it to show up as a regular window in Mission Control so that I could just drag it between spaces. I have no idea why it disappears as soon as I go into Mission Control.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is not the way how it is supposed to work, in OS X. Try with other windows like Finder, it does not work as well.

You can use the spaces overview to move windows from one space to another.

I know that's not how it's *supposed* to work, but that's how it's worked with every previous VLC version.

The "spaces overview" aka Mission Control, doesn't let me move VLC. It works with every other window, like Finder, Chrome, etc., but VLC doesn't show up in it when a video is playing (it's visible when it's just the app, but with a video loaded it vanishes from Mission Control).

Also, with other windows I can drag them to the edge of the screen where the other Space is, and after a second or two it will shift to the other Space with the window. VLC does not do this either.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? How do other people move VLC between Spaces on a Mac while a video is loaded? Or am I the only one that ever wants to do this?

Is the fact that it doesn't show up in Mission Control a "bug" or a "feature"?

VLC uses accelerated video for output, and Spaces might not support that.

I found the cause of the issue. Disable "Float on Top" and the window will properly appear in Mission Control.

Works totally fine with me with a normal configuration. But indeed, float-on-top makes the window vanish from the spaces overview.

So the solution is to disable float-on-top - I doubt we can do much else about that.
