VLC - Hard-Coded Subtitles

Is it possible to hard-code subtitles and export the video using VLC? I want to add subtitles (hard-coded) so I can burn a video to a DVD. If it's possible, please tell me where to find the instructions or how to do it.

Thank you very much.

Hello Jean-Baptiste - I am also interested in Klaatu's question.

How do you do this in VLC?

What alternative tool would you recommend?

Cheers

The best tool for the job is Handbrake. If you're just hardcoding the subs and nothing else, you can select passthrough for the audio, normal preset for the video and then open the SRT or select the relevant subtitle in the "Subtitles" tab, and then select "Burned In" to hardcode them.
