Subtitles in .str format aren't working

Postby Azureye » 17 Sep 2005 05:25

I'm using VLC version 0.7.0 on a version 10.4.2 mac.

1) If I try to manually select subtitles by going to Video > Subtitles Track, I find the subtitles track option is grayed out. I don't know any way to fix this.

2) If I place the subtitles in a seperate folder in the same directory titled "Subtitles," I recieve an error message.

main debug: using demux module "avi"
main debug: looking for subtitle demux module
main debug: probing 1 candidate
main debug: using subtitle demux module "demuxsub"
demuxsub error: cannot open `/Users/jrhansbrough/Desktop/My World/Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children (Jap-Sub-Eng.)/Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children.srt' subtitle file
main warning: failed to start subtitle demux
main debug: unlocking module "demuxsub"

Could anyone explain what's going wrong?

I had the same problem as you but try this.

1) Keep everything in the same folder.
2) Open VLC.
3) Choose "Open File"
4) Browse for you movie.
5) Select the "Load subtitles" box and browse for your subtitles file.
6) Than play.

Hopefully that works for you.
