VLC not playing a DVD folder from Finder

I noticed that on Windows file explorer with just a right click you can open up with VLC and play back a DVD from a DVD folder (with a VIDEO_TS folder inside of course). But it doesn't work like that in the OS X Finder. In OS X you have to open up VLC and drag the files inside the app. Not that is annoying but it would be more convenient if it worked like it does in Windows, to play back the DVD folder with VLC directly from the Finder. Is this possible in any way or will it be possible in the future?

No, this is not planned. Until very recently, menu additions inside the Finder were nearly impossible.

And normally its not needed, because if you have normal files, you can just double-click them.

All my DVD have been ripped to MKV (H.264) with all the audio tracks enbedded. MKV is able to include subtitles so it works like playing a real DVD.
