I am on a MBP early 2011 with 8GB RAM and a 750GB SSD. OSX 10.9.2.
I have very rarely got kernel panics on this machine but the last ones I have got have always been while watching MP4 videos in VLC. They happen maybe once a month. The outcome is always the same. Usually I am watching an MP4 file with SRT subs and the sound skips like in a loop for 2 seconds, then the whole system crash into a kernel panic. After the restart I can continue watching the video without any problems and there pass many days after I see another panic. No other application has taken down my Mac like VLC has done.

I would appreciate some kind of guidance about resolving these issues.

How can I access the logs on crash reports in osx?
I have several times sent the report to Apple but don't know where they are stored in the Mac.

This report is not helpful at all, and it does not state at all why VLC would be the cause for it.

how can i help you to find the problem?

VLC 2.1.3 works fine!
kernel panic occurs when i watch a network streams (Kathrein UFS 913, SAT Receiver). i think the error occurs when you start or stop fullscreen.

How can you be sure that 2.1.3 works fine if you state that the crashes are rarely and only occuring once per month?

You can try to isolate the problem by trying to rule out different hardware problems. E.g. try without your SAT receiver, without VLC hardware acceleration, without a second monitor (maybe its a graphics driver issue), maybe try with the same setup but another apple device... Maybe its a problem with your two graphic cards.

I doubt that merely switching to fullscreen is the cause for your crash, especially as there is no difference here between 2.1.3 and 2.1.4. As I said, the report is not really useful to me and if we cannot reproduce it its really hard to debug.

Anyway, reporting it to apple is always a good choice.

Ok you are right! After using VLC 2.1.3 two hours it crashes too. I uninstalled the NVIDIA Cuda (com.nvidia.CUDA) an it crashes again!
So I uninstalled Parallel Access (com.parallels.virtualsound 1.0 22731.929773) but it was too late to test it. I will test it and report the results here!

When it won't work i will try to deactivate the hardware acceleration and also test it with second video card enabled!

+1, same issue here. And I'm sure the kernel panic is cause by VLC. All kernel panics occurred on my late-2013 MBP with GT750M happened when I'm loading file to VLC. I am running v.2.1.5 but I can recall similar kernel panic happen before 2.1.5, as far as I can recall, v.2.1.2 also cause my MBP to have kernel panic.

Please spam Apple with these reports. We cannot do anything about that, as the issue needs to be fixed within Apples Kernel, or within kernel modules from other vendors you are using.
