I have a Power Mac G4 733 MHZ processor and am running Tiger.
The VLC media player is very choppy and slow. I quit all programs when running the VLC player, but still I'm getting lousy results. Do I need more hard disk space on my hard drive, or would it help to get more ram? These are things I'm thinking about doing anyway, because I run PhotoShop as well as QuarkExpress. Also, I have a Plextor DVD driver/burner that I'm using with the VLC player. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please give more details. What kind of movies do you want to play? At which bitrates? Using which codecs? (see Window -> Information to get this info) What version of VLC do you use? Did you delete your preferences after upgrading to the latest release? If not, delete org.videolan.vlc.plist and the VLC-folder in ~/Library/Preferences.
