VLC Stopping iTunes Playback

Postby Haravikk » 14 Jan 2014 19:05

In one of the more recent updates (not sure which since I haven't updated in while) VLC seems to have gained a feature which pauses or mutes iTunes when playback in VLC begins.

This would be fine, except a lot of the time I open VLC just to quickly check video files, or to transcode video, and in both cases VLC will interrupt my music, even though it doesn't need to.

This raises two issues; firstly, VLC probably shouldn't interrupt music playback if no output is being displayed (default when transcoding). Secondly, what is this feature actually called? I can't for the life of me find an option anywhere for turning it off; since most of the time I use VLC for things other than simple playback, interrupting my music is mostly annoying, so I'd rather disable the feature if I can.

Thanks!

You can find the settings in preferences, right on the first tab. (Make sure you use the latest version.)

And you are right, best would be to only pause iTunes if audio playback is started.
