When I play an mpeg file created on a PC using VideoReDo my PowerBook G4 running OS X Tiger there is no sound. Any suggestions?

Please have a look at the Window -> Messages output and post lines related to audio here. Otherwise, we won't be able to help you. Additionally, give the used codecs please (see Window -> Information while playing the file).

Are you able to watch other movies with VLC?

I have now tried a number of different mpeg2 files with VLC and have not had sound with any of them. I don't know what the problem is.

Again: Please have a look at the Window -> Messages output and post lines related to audio here. Otherwise, we won't be able to help you. Additionally, give the used codecs please (see Window -> Information while playing the file).

...and tell us whether you are using any external speakers, etc. pp.

I finally got an mpeg2 file from the PC that ran with sound on VLC.

I don't have any Window -> Messages to post at this time becauce I didn't think to save them. But I did find that if I opened any of the files that were without sound in MPEG Streamclip and then converted them "MPEG with MP2 Audio", I got an mpeg2 file that will run with sound on VLC.

At present the only message that I get is a repetition of:

main warning: backward_pts != dts (50056)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50055)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50044)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50045)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50056)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50055)
main warning: backward_pts != dts (50044)

What does that mean?

I will post the message that I get with soundless file later.

Thank you for your help.
