Can't run VLC audio through Bluetooth!

I have paired a Bose soundlink mini to my mac and all audio, broswer/itunes/mac sounds run through it. Everything but VLC audio, any ideas on how to fix this?

Check that the right audio device is selected in the audio menu.

Win 7 64bit
Bluetooth enabled
Connecting to Bose Soundlink Mini
verified connection by playing to youtube videos. Sounds great

VLC only gives option of builtin Realtek speakers and "default" device

Bluetooth connection is the default device.
