Two issues with Mavericks and VLC 2.1

The first issue is that when you "minimize" the player, it can not be restored. This issue has also been mentioned in the thread "floating window problem with Mavericks", however, it may have been missed or misunderstood due to the OP talking about full-screen mode ... this problem occurs regardless of whether the program is in full screen or 1xvideo size or 2xvideo size etc.

The second issue is that if you have iTunes playing music via OSX set to "USB DAC" with VLC set to "Built in output", every time you open a new VLC video, it will stop the iTunes playing via USB ... you can then manually restart iTunes playing via USB whilst watching a movie on VLC outputting to "Built in Output", however this behaviour is annoying, and has not occurred in previous versions - why should VLC stop iTunes, when they are not outputting to the same sound device each time a new video is started ?

For your second issue, Preferences>Show All>Interfaces>Main interfaces>macosx>Pause iTunes during VLC playback might address that.

I am having the same issue, as I often watch videos while doing other things I sometimes have to diminish the screen while something else comes up.

I have had to stop using vlc until this issue is resolved because each time I do it, I have to quit vlc & open the video again & find where I left off.

***Edit - It also happens with quicktime, so I think its a problem with mavericks rather than vlc***

I'm still having the same issue with the latest update. Just like you, I have to quit the program and restart to get the video playing again and find where I left off viewing.

I checked the issue which vanishing videos when restoring from minimized state. But I cannot do much as this is a Mavericks problem and its also reproducable with the Quicktime Player as well. So I hope Apple will fix this issue in one of the next updates.
