highdef .ts playback stutters in 0.8.2 but is fine in 0.7.2?

Postby Guest » 11 Aug 2005 07:53

Hi, i was wondering how come when i have the same options selected my playback for the highdef .ts clip drops frames every 35seconds or so in 0.8.2 but is fine in 0.7.2? i turned off deinterlacing in both and still 0.8.2 drops soem frames?

i would stick with 0.7.2 but i hear nothing.

any suggestions? my comp is a powermac dual 2.0 with 1gig of ram and a radeon 9600 pro.

thanks

I'm having a similar problem, trying to playback hidh def transport streams pulled from a Comcast/Motorola 6412 with VirtualDhvs. I'm running tiger on a 1.42ghz mini connected to a HD TV/Monitor, and using the 0.8.2 VLC download.

The playback is just jerky. Not terrible, but not good enough to watch. I was hoping for the same quality as directly out of the HD cable box.

In a different forum I saw a note about needing to specify Opengl video output to get the hardware acceleration needed to get smooth performance, but I don't see anything about opengl in VLC.

Also, from the first note in this thread, I wonder if I need to go find an older VLC.
