Cannot Download from Dropbox

Dear, i have a problem when i try to download big files such as films.
When i go to the vlc's dropbox folder and i click on a file in order to download it, it starts but when, after 2 min, the ipad goes into sleep mode then it stops downloading.
It is very annoying because i have to keep it awake by keep on tapping on it...
Any suggestion apart from delaying auto sleep mode?

Not really, except for watching a movie while downloading the file.. I'll add this to my todo list!

The reason why i need to do this is because i want to watch films where i don't have internet connection!

Yep, I see. The reason I suggested watching a movie is that you need to keep VLC awake for a longer time and this would be a feasible and entertaining way to do so…

So, If I understood correctly, if the files are on Dropbox, you have to finish downloading them before you start can watching?
No streaming on Dropbox yet, then?
If/when streaming is implemented, it would also be nice if it automatically fetched the corresponding subtitle file, if present!

No, you can stream directly from dropbox.
The problem is when you try to download a file, the ipad goes into sleep mode and this interrupts the downloading process.

Dropbox streaming will be supported in VLC for iOS 2.2.1, which is awaiting review on the App Store right now. It should be available by the end of the week or early next week depending on Apple's clearance.
