Full screen mode distorted!

Hi, when ever i play a file,whether DVD,avi,mpg,mov or wmv, in full screen the images are fine for 1-2 seconds,then scrolls down the screen like this ,then leaving my screen looking like this .Once it appeared like this .I can then only return to normal viewing by pressing esc. The Apple+numbers 0-3 don't work from from full screen mode. How can I fix this? TIA
