mp3 playback not showing up on iOS

I love the iOS version of VLC, I am so happy to see it back, I am extremely grateful.

I was wondering "can I play mp3s on VLC?" and so I uploaded a couple of mp3s to it. They uploaded successfully, but I could not find or play them in the library of the device I uploaded them to. I used both iPad and iPhone versions of VLC, and the mp3s were showing up in neither of them. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug that will probably be fixed?

Also, can you listen to audio at 1.5x, 2x, etc. speed? I love listening to audio books this way, but I hate using iTunes to upload big files onto my iPhone/iPad. If not, is there a different app that you have used to upload mp3s (Either music or audio books) to your iPhone or iPad? Thanks for your help! :D

Yes, because we only support Video in the iOS app. The reason is that it is forbidden to do an audio app not using the iTunes Music library.

But there are other apps on the app store that let you upload mp3s via WiFi and play them, just like VLC allows one to do with videos. Would not those other apps also violate the same iTunes rule?

Is there any loophole so that mp3 files are treated like video files? I really like the convenience of VLC and the ability to customize playback speeds on videos, I wish there were such a simple player for audio (Primarily audiobooks)

Maybe we could do it in a different way then. But don't hold your breath yet.

change the extension from .mp3 to .avi and VLC will play it.
It works even with amiga mod files.
The problem (a part the extension changing) is that a subfolder management is really needed when working with a lot of files.

Save as .avi so I can stream my MP3s with VLC Streamer on iPad from helper on PC.
Genius! Thank you!
