Postby beterhans » 19 Jul 2013 17:59

My iOS device is an iPad 3 with 6.1.3 software (normal one, no jail brake)

Used video sample

Video Playback
VLC can't utilize the hardware playback power but only software. (Pros: you can play almost any kind of video files)
it tells me that my iPad3 is too slow to play 1080p h.264. and the video won't work, 720p was kinda OK. but still lag. you can compare it by play the sample video which I've shared in both system video app and VLC.

Audio Playback
all 4 audio track is OK
AAC Stereo
AC-3 6ch
DTS 6ch
DTS HD Mast Audio 8ch (I'm surprised by this)

subtitle language
only support english
I guess it don't have fonts of other languages, and it won't utilize iOS system fonts

subtitle format
I believe it support all formats (srt ass and internal 3gpp)

Metadata
Don't support only shows file name

Yes, that is about right, except the Metadata part.
